The Leader-in-Training (LIT) Program at Camp Sonshine (available at our Silver Spring location) equips teens with important leadership/life skills such as Teamwork, Responsibility, Communication, Problem Solving and Community Service. These vital leadership skills are taught in a safe, fun and challenging group environment. Teens get hands-on experience working with kids alongside trained counselors. LIT campers help maintain group control, create a safe environment for campers and assist in day-to-day activities. LIT campers will also get to participate in one-on-one mentoring.
Completed 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th grade
NOTE: Our LIT program is an approved Student Service Learning Hours program. Participants can earn up to 35 SSL hours per week.
Your total cost for the year includes a one-time application fee (per child) and program tuition. >> Access Tuition & Fees Information
“[My daughter’s] had so much fun the first two weeks that she asked me to sign her up to be an LIT for weeks 7 and 8. I think a big part of this is the counselor for the group she is helping – the counselor’s positive attitude and caring nature with the kids is something [she] is eager to model. Thanks to all the counselors for helping [my dauther] grow in being a future counselor!”
