Camp Sonshine is an award-winning, county, and state licensed, and ACA accredited Christian day camp in Maryland. We serve families in Montgomery, Howard and Prince George’s County. In addition to summer day camp, we also offer year-round programming such as After School Care for school-aged children. Our programs cater to the developmental needs of each age group we serve. Therefore, we carefully select staff from around the world who are passionate about working with youth. In addition, we intentionally model behavior that parents want their children to emulate.

Since 1981, Camp Sonshine International has brought the joy of camp to children worldwide. Originating in Maryland, we have extended our reach to locations like the Philippines, Guatemala, and South Africa. Our vision to share God’s love and purpose has expanded to include over 7,000 children annually! However, we aspire to reach even more countries in the future.

Our Story
In 1981, David began Camp Sonshine in his mom’s backyard as a college freshman. His goal was to establish a camp experience beyond mere “daycare drop-off” for busy parents. He envisioned a place where kids could have fun and acquire essential skills for navigating the journey of growing up. Hence, Camp Sonshine was born! Despite having only two counselors, David and his sister Marsha, 20 kids showed up that first summer. Fast forward 40 years later, and parents are busier than ever. Nevertheless, Camp Sonshine has emerged as a steadfast pillar within the community. Each summer, it offers a safe and unforgettable experience for thousands of campers.
