“Our lives go as well as our relationships” is a truth most of us believe.
What we don’t all know is how to ensure our relationships go well. Where can one learn the relational skills to deal with the relational tensions that so often occur in relationships? The truth is we often carry hurts, habits and hangups we encounter in childhood unmitigated into our adult life unless we have positive role models who care enough to help us through the challenging childhood and often turbulent teen years.
Summer Camp Is About More Than Fun
Great camps not only give children amazing fun memories but guide children into values and relational skills that will help them be successful in growing up well and having great relationships with those around them.
Camps like Camp Sonshine are educating and helping campers grow through fun activities, helping them develop courage, compassion and a willingness to get out of their comfort zone. Climbing up the zipline while your group cheers you on fosters courage and a willingness to try new things. Writing and decorating letters for children in other countries develops compassion. Group discussions about the value of the week cultivate relational skills.
At Camp You Live Out What You Need to Learn
Good camps all have cool t-shirts for the campers but great camps make sure long after they grow out of that t-shirt they are still wearing the courage, compassion, and life skills learned at camp. Camp Sonshine’s primary goals are to ensure the values we instill upon our campers carry over to real life.
