WATER ACTIVITIES

When watching the video and taking the quiz, us at Camp Sonshine ask that you take your time and focus in order to retain as much information as possible! We hired you because we believe that you can change lives this summer, so we want to equip you as best as possible! So take notes, save the videos, read the explanations, do whatever you need to do to succeed! Thank you, you rock!

QUIZ

Please enter your email:

1. What is not an example of one of Camp Sonshine’s water activities?

**Explanation: Camp Sonshine has a TON of water activities! Some are specific to certain grades and some are for everyone! However, we do not have Kayaks on the grounds at this time 🙁

2. What happens when the counselor does not participate in the water activities with their campers?

**Explanation: As stated in the video, campers will still have fun if you do not participate with them; however, they will have so much more fun if you are with them! Getting excited and pumped up for an activity will lead to the campers feeling the same way! By doing this you are setting a great example and providing a fun environment for your group.

3. What things do you need to be prepared for water activities?

**Explanation: It is generally a good idea to be prepared for getting wet and messy any given day at Camp. This does not mean you will be getting wet and/or messy everyday, but it is best to be prepared.  If you would like to bring goggles for the pool, that is up to you, but other than that, Camp will provide all the materials for the activities themselves. You just need the proper things for yourself which includes a change of clothes, swimsuit, towel, and of course a positive attitude!

4. When is it okay to not join the campers in a water activity?

**Explanation: All of the above answers are valid reasons for not wanting to join in on a water activity! We can talk about each one. If you forget your swimsuit, chances are you will just get wet anyway. Oftentimes our staff do not change into their swimsuits either way because it is hot out so you dry quickly. If the campers do not want to participate, odds are there is something else going on. We talk about this issue a lot, and your first steps are to encourage them to give it a try and set an example by participating yourself. But remember, we never force our campers to do any of the activities! If you are feeling sick to the point of not wanting to participate in an activity, you probably should not be with your group anyway. You can go to the nurse after asking your head counselor for help.
