Christmas time is here! Tis’ the season for toys, cheer, love and more.
With the year coming to a close so quickly, now is the perfect time to reflect on the things that made this year so special.
During this season of gratitude, our Camp Sonshine family is doing the same. We asked some of our Year Round Team what they’re grateful for this year:
“The ability to connect with family”
- Christina Kendig, Marketing & Parent Services
Connecting with those both near and far is a great way to stay connected during the Holiday’s. Whether you have your immediate family down the street or chosen family all around the world, sending presents, letters, texts, emails and more are a great way to show thanks to each other. Staying connected can also make the Holiday’s feel all that more special.
“New friends and new experiences!”
- Abbey Rhoden, IMPACT Intern
Abbey traveled from a school in Florida this past summer to be a part of our Camp Sonshine Family. Within that, she grew to learn so many new people from all around the world. In addition to that, Abbey will have the opportunity to travel to Guatemala with Camp Sonshine in March. The friends that are made here are truly lifelong and the experiences are ones that our staff hold onto for years to come.
“Seasons changing”
- Alex Graham, SHINE & Programming
Not only does the winter bring about the weather changing, it’s also a great time to enjoy all the events that are exclusive to this time! Enjoy Christmas movies, sled rides, and enough hot chocolate to last you til’ 2024.
“Good health”
- Ethan Woo, Director of Site & Transportation
Make sure to bundle up. Seasons changing are a great time to remind your family to layer up when they go outside and still wash your hands frequently!
“The people that I work with!”
- David Black, Founder
We especially want to thank our Camp Sonshine Family both near and far. It is with all of YOUR help that we are able to make this summer spectacular!
Want even more ways to give?
This holiday season, the giving doesn’t have to stop there! Here are a few other ways to show gratitude:
- Donate Toys: Give to those in need by donating to different organizations. Salvation Army accepts gently used gifts and Toys for Tots accepts unopened new toys. Each are able to find a new home.
- Volunteer Your Time: As the winter season rolls in, animal shelters begin to fill up. Volunteer at a local animal shelter or even foster a pet for the holiday’s! Not only that, there are many ways to help out all from the comfort of your own home. In the digital age, volunteering is made easy.
- Support Essential Workers: Those delivery drivers are some of our unsung heros! Give back to them dedicating their time by leaving necessities for them (snacks, water) or even just a little extra tip to say thank you.
- Help Globally: Camp Sonshine accepts donations for our global outreach program all year long. With our Missions Trip to South Africa right around the corner, give back to our Camp Sonshine Family around the globe.
We hope you have a very Happy Holiday!
