Host Homes

Our summer staff travel from all over the United States, and the world, often sacrificing modern comforts and summer freedoms, to invest into the lives of our youth. As a ministry, we have committed to providing a safe and clean place for them to stay during the summer. In order to keep Camp affordable, we are constantly seeking ways to keep our costs down. Our Host Homes program is one such way. In order for us to fulfill our commitment, we depend heavily on the generosity of our Camp families and friends.

Required

  • Provide a clean and safe place for a summer camp counselor to sleep and get ready in the morning.
  • Provide a space in the freezer/refrigerator and cabinet/pantry for a few food items.

NOT Required

  1. You are not responsible for providing meals.
  2. You are not responsible for transportation to and from Camp.
  3. You are not responsible for cleaning up after your guest counselor.
  4. You are not responsible for enforcing any of Camp’s rules or guidelines.

Thank you kindly for considering serving in this capacity. If you would like to receive more information about our Host Homes program, please call Parent Services at (301) 989-CAMP.

Site Work Days

It takes an army to make sure our campgrounds look their best. We have monthly workdays where full-time camp staff get out (with their old clothes on) to do some needed maintenance and facility improvements. Note: Landscaping skills and experience is not required.

Services Options

  1. Full day services
  2. Half day services
  3. Donate building/landscaping supplies

Thank you kindly for considering serving in this capacity. If you would like to receive more information about our Site Work Days program, please call Parent Services at (301) 989-CAMP.

Scholarship Donations

Please consider helping us reach our goal of raising $20,000 to help less fortunate families send their children to Camp.

“When one of our scholarship kids came to camp, he told staff that he hated them. At the end of an overnighter week, he was a completely different camper. He made friends. He laughed and could not stop smiling. A few days later, he had a seizure and was hospitalized. The next morning when he returned to camp all of the boys in his group embraced him and let him know they were glad he was alright. It has been the biggest blessing watching God transform his life. Camp Sonshine is the only thing in his life to challenge the pattern/course he is heading down.”

Ways to Give:

  1. You can Give Online!
  2. You can send a check made to ‘Camp Sonshine’ with ‘Scholarship Fund’ in the memo line.
  3. You can donate when registering you child(ren) for Camp online.

We see each donation as a valuable investment in the lives of our future leaders. Thank you for kindly considering helping a child attend Camp. Please call Parent Services at (301) 989-CAMP if you would like more information about our Scholarship Fund.

Referrals

More than 80% of new families hear about us by word of mouth. Did you know that if you refer a first-time family to Camp you will receive a $30 credit?

Did you know that if you refer a first-time family to Camp you will receive a $30 credit? Refer as many families as you want as long as your credit amount does not exceed the amount paid for registration for the current year.  Sounds like a great opportunity to me!

NOTE: You will receive your credit within two weeks of the new family registering.

“I just LOVE Camp Sonshine! I’ve referred countless friends and neighbors because I feel that every child should experience a place like this.  My kids absolutely adore this place, the counselors, and staff.”
