To Our Camp Sonshine Family,
In January, our team of 7 returned to Cape Town, South Africa for the second year post-COVID. They were warmly welcomed by the children who remembered Camp Sonshine’s previous trips and were excited for a fun-filled week.
“During our week-long day camp in Maitland Garden Village, we had the privilege of serving 80 children. The children loved coming each day to spend time with us. Each day we participated in all kinds of exciting activities! Together, we enjoyed a variety of exciting activities—scratch art, bracelet-making, bubbles, soccer, and more! The children’s enthusiasm and gratitude shone through in the pictures they drew and the crafts they gave to our staff.
The theme of the week was ‘POWER’. More specifically, ‘God is power and God gives us power’. We had a mascot called “Power Girl” who was featured in the skits we ran each day when we taught the children through Bible stories and everyday scenarios. We also brought back a mascot from the previous year called ‘Faith Girl’, which many of the kids remembered and enjoyed singing the ‘FAITH’ song together.
Overall, we had the most amazing time there and we were able to meet so many people from the village as well as learn so much from the children. We are so grateful for the fun that was had, and the deep, meaningful conversations we were blessed to have with the children.”
