Camp Sonshine Parents!
At Camp Sonshine, our hope is to partner with parents in creating the best experience possible for their child(ren)! We want our campers to make positive and impactful memories that last a lifetime! At the end of each summer, we carefully review the feedback given through our office staff and Weekly and End of the Summer Surveys to adequately address whatever areas of camp our parents have expressed as areas of improvement.
WHAT YOU SAID: | WHAT WE’RE DOING ABOUT IT: |
You loved the Snack Shack and treats available for purchase, but wished Camp offered healthier alternatives. | Our plan is to add healthier snack options at the Snack Shack such as fresh fruit, baked chip options and more! |
My child lost multiple items over the past summer and I had difficulty making it to the Lost and Found. | We are introducing “Oliver’s Labels,” a company that creates individual labels for your child to place on all of the items they bring to camp. You can purchase these labels through your camp account!* Additionally, we are adding more specific training requirements for our staff to equip them in assisting your camper in keeping track of their items, as well as moving the Lost and Found Shed to a more accessible location for our parents!
*Details for Oliver’s Labels Coming Soon! |
I didn’t get to see any pictures of my child during their camp day. | We are introducing program-specific photo albums on our Camp Sonshine Facebook page where we’ll have pictures posted of each program each week! Please note this is not a guarantee that we will post a picture of your camper each week, but we hope to have more frequent candid photos available for our camp families. |
Specialty Camps aren’t adequately program-focused. | We are revamping our Specialty Program for the 2020 Summer Season! We are adding new activities such as a 3D Printer, Drones, RC Cars and more for STEM, more skills and age-based projects in ART, a greater variety of modules in Roblox and Minecraft in CODING, and putting in place a new “Survival Skill of the Week” in WILDERNESS! |
Outdoor bathrooms could use an overall upgrade. | We are updating the sinks and floors in the bathroom with more durable, “child-at-camp-proof” materials. We also have an updated maintenance schedule in place with our Site team to ensure regular cleaning and maintenance is taking place. |
Sending a lunch with my child each day can sometimes be difficult and a lunch-for-purchase option at camp would be convenient. | We will have a lunch option for purchase available for our campers during the camp day! Details coming soon! |
These are just a few of the areas we are actively planning and adjusting to improve the experience of our campers and parents alike! We take your feedback seriously and are so thankful for dedicated parents like YOU, who work with us in giving your child the Camp Sonshine experience. If you have any feedback, questions or concerns you felt were not adequately addressed over the summer, please reach out to me! Your feedback and input truly shape all that we do, and whether positive or negative, let us know how to best serve our camp families.
