We just got back from our annual global outreach trip to Dominican Republic!
Hey! This is David Black.
I just want to thank all of you that went to the Dominican Republic and helped make it possible for others to go to the DR. It was truly an amazing trip and we were able to reach hundreds and hundreds of children, who, this is their first time they’ve ever experienced anything like Camp Sonshine. It was truly life changing for me and for those children. When we talked to the people down at the DR, they were so grateful! They feel, the hope, the joy and for some of these children; the laughter that they’ve never had in their entire lives, they were able to experience here. It was truly a miracle. So, thank you for bringing hope and laughter to a place where many times it’s very difficult.
And to go a place where no one else goes… I love being able to do that, to bring the joy and the miracle of Camp Sonshine and the hope that Camp Sonshine brings to places where no one else has gone. So, thank you. We encourage you now, take the next step, we encourage you to go again… For those of you who haven’t gone, consider going on a life-changing trip! You can give, continue to reach into these communities and get involved in many ways. Just email, message our social media or call us!
Thanks again!
Testimonies:
“I made a special connection with a girl named Lia. She was 8 and put the whole experience into perspective for me. Our bond grew throughout the week and it was emotional for both of us to say goodbye. Especially dancing during the final songs on Friday. Even though we didn’t speak the same language she would signal for things for me to help understand her. When she would have something longer to say she would have someone translate to me, which I am so grateful for. I am determined to learn spanish now. Lia would say many personally encouraging things to me. One that stood out was when she tried to explain something to me in spanish 2 or 3 times and I just didn’t understand. I led her to a spanish speaking counselor to translate where she said “ Matthew I am rooting for you” and as soon as I heard that I got slightly emotional, gave her a hug. Days later I realize that I will never forget that moment for the rest of my life. I will always think of her in everything that I do.”
