How to Partner with Us and Get Involved with Camp We have numerous opportunities for parents and friends of Camp Sonsh1ine to get more involved with us. We have so many needs but here are just a few... Host Homes || Site Workdays || Scholarship Donations || Networking
Our summer staff come from all over the United States and around the world, sacrificing the comforts of home and the freedom of their summer in order to invest into the lives of children and teens. In order to keep our costs down, we depend on the generosity of our friends who are willing to open up their homes to an ever-growing percentage of our counselors. All we ask is that our gracious hosts provide a place for a counselor to sleep and get ready in the morning. Counselors will also need a space in the freezer/refrigerator and cabinet/pantry to store their own breakfast food and weekend food. You are not responsible for their meals, transportation, cleaning up after them, or enforcing any of camp’s guidelines or rules. Please consider being part of the Camp Sonshine family in this act of service. If you would like to receive more infomation regarding this program, please call Jen Odom at (301) 989-2267 ext. 1250. Your decision changes a counselor's summer experinece.
It takes an army to make sure our camp grounds are looking their best. We have monthly workdays where the full-time camp staff get out with their old clothes on to do some needed maintainence and facility improvements. If you would like to join us for the day or part of the day (no landscaping skills required), or if you have expertise in a certain area and would like to offer your services or donate building/ landscaping supplies, please call our Site Manager, Paul Travis at (301) 989-2267 ext. 1249 for more details.
Please consider joining us in our goal to raise $20,000 to help less fortunate children attend camp. For 2010 our scholarship fund has been renamed 'The Aaron Brice Scholarship Fund', in memory of Aaron Brice, a 2009 staff member who passed away on November 1st, 2009. If you would like to donate a tax deductible gift to this fund, please click on the PayPal Donate button below to donate via credit card or PayPal account. Your donation is a valuable investment in the life of a child. You can also send a check made to 'Camp Sonshine' with 'Scholarship Fund' in the memo line or you can donate during the registration process. Camp Sonshine is a non-profit 501 (3)(c) and all donations are tax deductible. If you would like to receive more infomation regarding this program, please call our Main Office at (301) 989-2267.
Did you know that more than 80% of new families hear about us by word of mouth? If you know a family that would benefit from the Camp Sonshine experience, please let them know about us. |
